Banco Chambers supports 2017 Jessup Moot
Banco Chambers recently partnered with the organisers of the 2017 Australian round Jessup Moot as a sponsor. Banco Chambers' sponsorship included providing cash prizes for the finalists to help meet the cost of travel to Washington, the venue for the Global round.
Now in its 58th year, the Jessup Moot is the world's largest mooting competition and attracts entrants from over 500 universities. Universities from around Australia competed in the Moot, and the grand final was held on 11 February at the High Court of Australia. Robert Dick SC was a member of the judging panel for the grand final together with the Hon. Justice Gageler, and Gitanjali Bajaj of DLA Piper. Peter Brereton SC was also a judge in the semi final.
Central to Banco Chambers' values is a commitment to high calibre advocacy. Our Chambers was proud to provide its support to the Jessup Moot, a competition in which many current Banco members participated as university students and where they got their first opportunity to engage in court room advocacy.
