Jonathon Redwood SC is also the Vice President of the Australian Centre for International Arbitration (ACICA), the peak arbitral body in Australia.

In addition to international arbitrations, Banco Chambers’ expertise extends to all aspects of private international law (choice of law, jurisdiction, stay, anti-suit injunctions, enforcement of foreign judgments and disputes involving a foreign governing law).

• Justin Gleeson SC is acting as: a party appointed arbitrator in an investor-state arbitration seated in London and convened under ICC rules concerning a royalties dispute; a party appointed arbitrator in a Singapore seated arbitration convened under SIAC rules concerning the sale of a significant infrastructure asset; and a party appointed panel arbitrator in an arbitration convened under UNCITRAL rules, seated in Australia concerning the sale of a large scale agribusiness.

• Jonathon Redwood SC and Boxun Yin act for a party in an international arbitration under the UNCITRAL Rules concerning the sale of an Australian Agribusiness.

• Ruth Higgins SC, Tim Breakspear SC and Harriet Lenigas act for a party in a significant defects dispute concerning a large mining infrastructure asset in which the claims for damages run into the billions.

• Banco members, including Elliot Hyde, Sudarshan Kanagaratnam, Penny Abdiel, and Harriet Lenigas act for various parties in an ACICA arbitration concerning the construction of the $2.5 billion new Royal Adelaide Hospital. The claims are in excess of $800 million. The case concerns defects and complex (global and non-global) delay and disruption claims.

• Cameron Moore SC and Danielle Forrester act for one of Australia’s largest freight operators in a pricing dispute concerning fees for use of transport infrastructure assets.

• Justin Gleeson SC and Fiona Roughley act for the Republic of India in Federal Court of Australia proceedings concerning the enforcement of a multi-billion ICSID arbitral award.

• Katie Sutton acts for a party in a multi party ICC arbitration between Italian and Australian construction entities concerning the construction of a major road in Australia. The claims exceed $60 million and the arbitration is seated in Singapore.

• Sebastian Hartford Davis and Boxun Yin appeared in Federal Court of Australia for the applicant in a successful application for the enforcement of an arbitral award of the Beijing Arbitration Commission.

• Chris Withers SC, Adam Hochroth, Chris Mitchell, Kate Lindeman and Katie Sutton appeared for various parties in the Rinehart family arbitration and related proceedings, one of the largest and most complex Australian seated arbitrations of 2022.
