Boxun is one of the leading juniors of the NSW Bar specialising in arbitration, having been listed by Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) as “Recommended” in its 2023, 2024 and 2025 Guides, as a “Future Leader” in its 2024 and 2025 Guides, and by Doyle’s Guide as a “Leading Arbitration Barrister” in 2024. He serves on the Legislative Committee of ACICA, the International Committee of the NSW Bar Association and on the Expert Advisory Committee on Working Group III (ISDS reform) for the UNCITRAL National Coordination Committee for Australia.
Boxun has extensive experience in high value ICC, HKIAC, ACICA and ICSID arbitrations. He is available to advise and appear in matters involving on doctrinally complex issues of arbitral law and principle, and on private and public international law, having appeared in the two most recent, groundbreaking arbitration-related judgments in the High Court of Australia: Tesseract v Pascale [2024] HCA 24 and CBI Constructors v Chevron [2024] HCA 28.
He is additionally available to advise and appear in any kind of commercial disputes, in particular cross-border and cross-cultural disputes, whether in arbitral proceedings or in the courts.
Before coming to the Bar, Boxun was a senior associate in the international dispute resolution group at Debevoise & Plimpton, based in London and Hong Kong. He is particularly well-placed to advise on complex commercial and financial disputes having spent a year as a VP at a hedge fund in New York City.
Boxun holds a BCL from the University of Oxford and a BA/LLB (Hons) from the University of Queensland, and has previously served as an associate to a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia and to a Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
