Clarissa Amato was called to the Bar in 2008, after having spent a number of years at a high profile media law practice in London. She is an experienced advocate and maintains a broad practice, with a particular speciality in media, privacy and defamation law.
Clarissa ranked in Doyles Guide to the Legal Profession as a Preeminent Junior Counsel in Technology, Media & Telecommunications for 2025. She has particular expertise in privacy/data protection, defamation, breach of confidence, trademark and consumer law. She has appeared for major Australian media outlets, publishers and high profile individuals in defamation and privacy cases.
In addition to her media and communications work, Clarissa maintains a general commercial practice ranging from contract disputes, consumer law claims and family law. She is also briefed to appear for persons of interest in regulatory investigations and Commissions of Inquiry.
