Clarissa Amato was called to the Bar in 2008 after having spent a number of years at a high-profile media law practice in London. She is an experienced advocate and maintains a broad practice, with a particular speciality in the law of reputation.

Clarissa is ranked in Doyles Guide to the Legal Profession as Preeminent Junior Counsel in Technology, Media & Telecommunications for 2026. She has expertise in privacy/data protection, defamation, suppression/non-publication orders, breach of confidence, trademark and consumer law. Clarissa has appeared for major Australian media outlets, publishers and high-profile individuals.

Clarissa is regularly briefed to advise and appear for persons of interest and witnesses in public inquiries, including Parliamentary Inquiries and those conducted by statutory bodies such as the Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC). Clarissa also maintains a general commercial practice ranging from contract disputes, consumer law claims and family law.
