Myles Pulsford

Myles has a broad practice in commercial and public law, with specialist expertise in statutory construction, administrative law and constitutional law.

Recent cases include:

• Myles is appearing in the NSW Court of Appeal for the Chief Commissioner of State Revenue and the Attorney General for NSW, intervening, in proceedings concerning the constitutional validity of a provision of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth);
• Myles appeared for the representative plaintiffs in the Arrium class action in a cause removed to the High Court of Australia concerning group costs orders and KPMG’s application to transfer the proceedings away from the Victorian Supreme Court;
• Myles appeared in an appeal before the Full Federal Court concerning the determination of causation and loss in securities class actions for contraventions of the statutory norms about misleading or deceptive conduct and continuous disclosure;
• Myles acted for Meta in civil penalty proceedings commenced by the Australian Information Commissioner under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in relation to the Cambridge Analytica incident;
• Myles appeared for Aurizon in judicial review proceedings brought by the Australian Rail Tram and Bus Industry Union to challenge a variation to Aurizon’s accreditation and in the resulting appeal; and
• Myles appeared unled for the Secretary of the NSW Ministry of Health in judicial review proceedings in the NSW Supreme Court.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Myles was Counsel Assisting the Solicitor General and Crown Advocate of NSW and a Senior Solicitor at the NSW Crown Solicitor’s Office. Myles was also the Researcher/Judicial Clerk to the then President of the NSW Court of Appeal, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC.

Myles holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Laws from New York University, where he studied as a Hauser Global Scholar.
