Federal Court orders first ever pecuniary penalties under the Interactive Gambling Act

On Monday the Federal Court of Australia handed down final orders in the first civil penalty proceedings commenced under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth): Australian Communications and Media Authority v Jones (No 7) [2026] FCA 860; Australian Communications and Media Authority v Jones (No 8) [2026] FCA 861. The Federal Court imposed pecuniary penalties totalling over $24 million in relation to contraventions of s 15(2A) of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth).
